Is Georgia Gulf related to Georgia-Pacific?

No, Georgia Gulf and Georgia-Pacific are separate corporations. Georgia Gulf was created in 1985 of Georgia-Pacific's commodity chemicals division. Georgia Gulf's Plaquemine, Louisiana, complex was started by Georgia-Pacific in 1970 as part of its chemical division. Since that time, Georgia Gulf has continually modernized and expanded its Plaquemine site. Both our Plaquemine and Pasadena, Texas, sites continue to supply commodity chemicals to Georgia-Pacific plants and mills across the country. Our phenol and caustic soda are used by many Georgia-Pacific facilities that manufacture wood adhesives for plywood, oriented strand board and engineered wood products. Caustic soda and chlorine are also purchased by Georgia-Pacific's Pulp and Paper Division for manufacturing pulp into a variety of paper products.
