Georgia Gulf has adopted many innovative practices that surpass state and federal requirements for pollution control and reduction. For instance, the Pasadena plant has received awards from the Texas Chemical Council for its effort in pollution prevention. And the Plaquemine complex has received awards from Louisiana Governor Mike Foster for its pollution prevention efforts.

 

Furthermore, two facilities that were recently acquired by Georgia Gulf are among 1999's top performing companies in the vinyl industry. This summer, the Vinyl Institute gave awards to the company's PVC plant in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and our VCM plant in Lake Charles, Louisiana, for their efforts to improve worker safety and protect the environment. The awards are based on outstanding performance under the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA's) National Emissions Standard for Hazardous Air Pollutants.
